Some of you will know that Ian used to ride horses and competed in the discipline of dressage. It's been a very long time since he rode competitively, or even owned a horse, but his love of the sport has seen him move into a more administrative role as well as becoming a judge. I'm telling you this for a very good reason... At the recent national conference and AGM for Dressage New Zealand a number of awards were handed out including one to Ian for
... JUDGE OF THE YEAR!
It was quite an unexpected surprise (but very well deserved!) and as you can see from the photo montage he was very emotional... you can also see from the photo montage that he has a big smile when there's a glass of wine in his hand!
And here he is at home with his fancy Judge of the Year rosette... He's always been my pick for 'Best in Show'
As for me I've been knitting and watching TV... mainly because Wimbledon has been on. I'm a big tennis fan and I love watching the Grand Slam tournaments... unfortunately we're twelve hours ahead of the games over here so it's not an option for me to watch the games live so I record them and then watch them the following night. Federer was a worthy winner and it's amazing to see him back as the world number one again and on the verge of overtaking the Pete Sampras record of most weeks at number one.
So this is what I've been knitting... can you tell what it is???
Which is lots of these all together...
Yes I'm in the process of putting another Friday Night Sock Club Knitted Friendship Quilt together... if all goes well I'm hoping to get it finished by the end of this weekend. Although I might be slightly distracted on Sunday since it will be my birthday.
For those of you have read the Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy novels this Sunday I will become the answer to the universe - 42!
Ian! Wowsers! How awesome. You little you! I just want to hug you too! And I will next time we catch up! Congratulations to a very SPECIAL guy!
