At J.O.Y we love being both a part of the global Knitting Community and the local Greytown community. We also love being able to give back to the local community and that is why we decided to help support the Greytown Toy Library.
This very worthy group, staffed by volunteers and funded entirely through donations provides a wonderful service to the local community by putting smiles on the faces of our children... what could be better than that!
J.O.Y is helping to support the Greytown Toy Library in the following ways...
BABY SOCKS... We sell pairs of beautiful little hand knitted baby socks crafted from the yarns we sell. They are designed to fit newborn cherubs up util the age of four months and for every pair we sell, either through the online store or from the Greytown Sock Wool Boutique, we will donate NZ$2.00 to the Greytown Toy Library.
J.O.Y MAGAZINE LIBRARY... James has donated a selection of his knitting magazine and patternbook collection to the J.O.Y magazine library. Members and guests of the Friday Night Sock Club and visitors to the Greytown Sock Wool Boutique are welcome to borrow any of the items in the library for a token fee of 50cents per item. All proceeds will be donated to the Greytown Toy Library.
KNIT PIC SAUSAGE SIZZLES... Everytime J.O.Y and Scarlet Oak Cottage host a "Knit Pic" (a knitter's picnic) we will fire up the barbecue for the classic kiwi fundraiser... the sausage sizzle. We will donate the sausages, bread, and condiments with all proceeds going to the Greytown Toy Library.
We're hoping to raise at least NZ$500 for the Toy Library through these initiatives in the first 12 months of J.O.Y. We will then present the Toy Library with a cheque for the amout raised at the annual J.O.Y Birthday Bash celebration held in August.
HOW YOU CAN HELP... If buying baby socks, renting magazines or nibbling sausages doesn't appeal to you, you can help us to help the Greytown Toy Library by making a donation of your own. Our online yarn store gives you the option to make a donation from as little as NZ$2.00 and if you visit us in person at the Greytown Sock Wool Boutique there is a donation jar on display which you are welcome to contribute to... (no amount is too small!).
Thank you for helping us to help a very worthy group who are providing a wonderful service to the local Greytown community.
